Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup hemp seeds
  • 3-4 cups water (use less water for thicker, creamier milk)
  • 1 pinch of sea salt
  • 1 whole pitted date ( optional // for sweetness // or 1 tablespoon (15 ml) maple syrup)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract ( optional )
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa or cocoa powder for "chocolate milk" ( optional )

Directions

  • Add hemp seeds, water, salt and other ingredients (optional) to blender. Cover with a lid and cover with a towel to keep it from splashing. Blend for about 1 minute or until mixture seems well combined.
  • Use a spoon to take a small sample to test for taste/sweetness. Add additional dates, salt or vanilla as needed.
  • Pour the mixture directly into a serving container. You can strain it, but in my experience it doesn't need it. If straining, pour over a large mixing bowl or pitcher covered with a nut milkbag , a very thin towel or a clean t-shirt.
  • Transfer to a sealed container and chill. It will keep in the refrigerator for up to 5 days (sometimes more). It is delicious straight from the jar, in smoothies, with granola or in baked goods.

It is also important to buy cannabis seeds from trusted and licensed sellers that ensure all legal requirements are met. Avoid buying seeds from unknown and unverified sources to ensure quality and safe products.

It is also important to maintain proper hygiene and storage when using hemp seeds in the kitchen. Store seeds in a cool, dry environment to minimize the risk of mold and bacterial contamination. You can also rinse the seeds before using them to remove any potential contaminants.

Their nutritional benefits are widely recognized and their safe and legal status makes their use in the country a no-brainer.

However, remember that hemp seeds do not contain the psychoactive substance THC and have no intoxicating effects. Their use is therefore legal and safe. If you intend to use hemp seeds not only in the kitchen but also in other areas such as growing plants, oil production or cosmetics, it is advisable to familiarise yourself with the specific regulations and limit yourself to legal use.
