If you ever get into a situation where you needed to keep more medical cannabis, you probably got to the question of how to store all these green goodies properly?  This would mean a loss of product quality, thereforeit is good to pay proper attention to the chapter on proper cannabis storage.

Dry cannabis blossoms may dry out over time as they store poorly, resulting in hard and pungent smoke during inhalation. Conversely, undried flowers may be too moist to promote mold formation during storage. Valuable substances of natural THC can oxidize over timeand hemp would lose its effectiveness, which is of course one of the things every good grower is trying to eliminate.

How to properly store medical cannabis? Here are some of our tips:

1. Avoid using plastic bags.

Storing cannabis in a plastic bag is one of the most popular ways to keep cannabis. In fact, however, a plastic bag is not suitable, since static electricity caused by the rubbing of plastic on the fabric may cause some of the active ingredients of THC to separate from the product and remain adhered to the sides of the plastic bag. Simply do not use plastic bags for long-term storage of medical cannabis. If for some specific reason you must use the bagPut the product into a paper bag and then into a plastic bag. If possible, remove any air in the bag.

2. Glass Pharmacy Bottles:

Often, so-called amber bottles with a cap are used for storage. Such containers are very suitable for storing any herbs as they keep the interior spaces airtight and the amber-orange color also protects the bottle from UV radiation.

3. The best material is glass:

Dark glasses with a firm, hermetically sealable lid, or other ceramic containers, are perhaps the best way to store long-term medical cannabis. The sealed container keeps the moisture inside and does not let the air out. In this process of long-term storage of herbs, limit the frequent opening of the container to a minimum. This will prevent air access and THC oxidation. Also make sure that all containers are stored in a cool, dark place with no light.

4. Darkness and coldness

This rule does not only apply to glass containers, but applies universally to any kind of storage. Always keep in mind that the greatest friend of proper storageis darkness and coldness.

5. Add a little orange peel:

There is a small trick to keep the storage environment permanently wet and not to dry the resulting product. Add a piece of orange or lemon peel directly into the container and close it hermetically again. The flowers of medical cannabis will draw moisture from this fruit peel and will not over-dry. However, never leave the fruit peel in the container for too long. If the bark starts to mold, it can easily infect other products and negatively affect the taste of your cannabis.

6. Do not freeze:

I once read that storing hemp in the freezer is the best practice for long-term storage. However, this is only a legend, since temperatures below freezing can, on the contrary, greatly reduce the effectiveness of medical cannabis. This is because the delicious crystal pistils through which the plant is filled become very fragile as a result of freezing and can easily break off in any manipulation. However, if you decide to freeze your herbs, minimize handling. More suitable than complete freezingit is to leave the product stored in hermetically sealed containers, in the refrigerator, at a temperature above freezing.
