The hyperemesis cannabinoid syndrome affects many people who are dependent on marijuana.

It has severe nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. It is not dangerous to life, but it should definitely be paid attention to.

Syndromecannabinoid hyperemesis

A special condition, which is associated with the use of marijuana and which induces vomiting appears to be an antidote - a hot shower.

Status, namecannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome is characterized by recurrent attacks of severe nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. It occurs in heavy marijuana users who often indulge in a hot shower to relieve symptoms. The phenomenon was observed in 2004 , but US doctors have reported increasingly appearing in recent years, says the New York Times.

In fact, a recent study of heavy marijuana users (who smoked at least 20 days a month) in New York found that about a third of users report symptoms consistent with cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome - which means they have experienced nausea and vomiting. If the results were extrapolated to the whole country, about 2.7 million Americans could suffer from cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome or a similar condition, the researchers said. (Even so, it is unclear whether these results could be extrapolated to other areas.)

What causes this condition and why it can be hotshower from these symptoms relieve?

Doctors cannot answer any of these questions or attempt to explainexactly what's happening, said Dr. Kennon Heard, a toxicologist at the University of Colorado, UCHealth at Aurora, who studied cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome.

But doctors know that long-term drug use can result in changes in the brain and nervous system. In addition, doctors know that endogenous cannabinoids - compounds in the body similar to those found in marijuana - are an integral part of the system of pain in the human body, Heard said.

One idea is that long-term stimulation due to substances in marijuana that cause a euphoric state - tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), changes the system of body pain in a way that leads to the symptoms of cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome.

"Something in the pain system is disrupted by having THC all the time," Heard told Live Science.

If so, a hot shower can help alleviate symptoms because hot water stimulation creates another sensory signal that distracts the body from the pain signal. Your body can only handle as many signals at once, "Heard said.

Medical marijuana is sometimes prescribed to relieve nausea and vomiting in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.

The condition is not life threatening but it's a certain health problem, Heard said. In 2010, researchers found that an average patient with cannabinoid hyperemesia syndrome went seven times to an emergency room and received a (confused) diagnosis three times before being diagnosed with their condition.

However, I exist to this conditionis a medicine - just dont use marijuana. In a 2017 review study, Heard colleagues found that 97% of people with cannabinoid hyperemesis marijuana stopped taking it completely.
