"Cannabis healed my head"
- Medical cannabis has been proven to positively affect recovery from head injuries, such as concussions
- Using medical cannabis has a positive impact when consumed preventively (before head injury) and as a post-injury treatment
If you read the previous article "Cannabis as a Treatment for Brain Injury", you already know that medical cannabis can prevent long-term consequences of head injuries: "... even a small portion of THC dose compared to a regular joint, administered either 7 days before or up to 3 days after a head injury, can trigger brain biochemical processes that are essential for protecting nerve cells and maintaining normal cognitive functions."
MMA fighters know this well, for example, the Diaz brothers swear by medical CBD as a recovery aid after a fight. Even the World Anti-Doping Agency will remove medical CBD from the list of prohibited substances from the beginning of 2018. The knowledge about cannabis's ability to prevent and treat head injuries will certainly be useful to an average of 36,000 Czech citizens who suffer head injuries each year.
Today, we'll look at the story of Liz Purcell, an American journalism student who unfortunately suffered a brain injury and subsequently found effective help against its consequences in medical cannabis.
