The Cannabis Research Department of the University of California San Diego recently announced receiving permission from the American National Drug Enforcement Administration, which will allow the university to legally research medical cannabinoids THC and CBD.
The university will receive high-quality medical marijuana samples, CBD extracts, and tinctures with THC content from Tilray, one of the global leaders in medical cannabis production and research. Interestingly, Tilray's stock rose by an incredible 92% in a single day. Some investors compare the stock price volatility to notoriously price-sensitive cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.
The main focus of the research is tremor, a continuous limb shaking that most often affects people over 65. No effective treatment for tremor has been developed yet. Tremor shaking is different from the tremors observed in Parkinson's patients. In tremor, patients shake when attempting any movement. In Parkinson's, patients shake when trying to remain still. Tremor significantly impedes patients' daily activities like drinking, speaking, or writing.
