UPDATED: Hemp seeds with THC content up to 1% and the possibility of their cultivation
The year 2022 brought significant legislative changes for cannabis lovers and growers. As of January 1, 2022, a new amendment to the law on addictive substances came into effect. What is most important for us is certainly the approval of increasing the THC component in industrial hemp from 0.3% to 1%. This increase is intended to protect farmers and growers, as unpredictable weather can lead to unexpectedly higher cannabinoid production in plants, which could cause THC content to rise above the legal limit.

The aim of this amendment is to allow more entities to grow medicinal cannabis and enable its export. The regulation also introduces electronic prescriptions with a blue stripe for prescribing medications containing addictive substances. It establishes new conditions for issuing licenses to grow cannabis plants for medical use and will allow cultivation for the production and subsequent manufacture of cannabis medicinal substances by legal or natural persons, which is a huge change from the original law's wording.
