What is HHC? A Guide to the Effects and Uses of Hexahydrocannabinol

We have long known that medicinal cannabis plants contain a number of effective substances. Our interest, as always, is primarily focused on cannabinoids, which represent the greatest potential for the (not only) human organism. And which cannabinoid is in line today? We will talk about the popular substance HHC, which is not actually a cannabinoid in the true sense of the word. You will learn what HHC is, what makes it so unique, and how it is obtained. What are HHC's effects and how to dose it. Let's get started...

In today's article, you will learn

What is HHC? How is it produced and what makes it unique?

HHC is an abbreviation for Hexahydrocannabinol. HHC occurs in cannabis plants only in very low amounts. Its extraction would thus be highly demanding and disadvantageous. It is therefore a partially synthetic cannabinoid. This is a crucial difference from the more familiar THC or CBD, which are natural cannabinoids in the true sense of the word.

HHC was created in 1944 by American chemist Roger Adams when he added hydrogen molecules to Delta-9 THC. This process, known as hydrogenation, converted THC into hexahydrocannabinol (abbreviated as HHC).

The first HHC therefore originated from THC, which is not legal in all states. In recent years, HHC has been produced using cannabis strains with low THC content and, conversely, high CBD and other legal cannabinoid content.

CBD is extracted from raw hemp and distilled until the so-called CBD isolate is created. CBD crystals serve as the basis for the chemical reaction that produces HHC.

Is HHC legal?

Despite its origin and relation to THC, HHC is legal in the Czech Republic. HHC is considered an end product that must meet the conditions set by Czech legislation. The resulting HHC must come from technical hemp or CBD hemp with a THC content not exceeding the legally established limit of 1%. Similarly, HHC products must not contain more than 1% THC.

What effects does HHC have?

Given that HHC has been on the market for a very short time, user opinions and experiences with HHC vary considerably. However, this is no surprise. Even completely natural cannabinoids affect everyone very individually. HHC effects are still being studied.

However, due to its origin, some potential effects can be derived. Preliminary studies claim that HHC has effects comparable to THC. According to some sources, however, they are not as strong. Whether these claims apply to HHC produced from CBD hemp, more specifically from CBD isolate, can only be proven by further studies and research.

The reported effects of HHC include:

  • high level of relaxation - HHC can act as a muscle relaxant
  • better sleep - again related to the relaxing effect of HHC
  • potential pain relief - possible analgesic properties

Possible negative side effects of HHC:

HHC Usage and Effects
HHC effects are comparable to THC in many ways. Further studies will reveal more.

How long do HHC effects last?

We already know that HHC is similar to the cannabinoid THC in many ways. Assuming it is produced from tetrahydrocannabinol, we can assume a certain similarity in the duration and intensity of effects.

However, it is necessary to keep in mind that THC is a substance with great potency and not every organism is capable of accepting and processing it further. Some people are extremely sensitive to THC and their metabolism, for example, cannot break down the substance as quickly as other users.HHC effects can last from several dozen minutes to several hours. However, the state the user will experience during the substance's effects is very individual. For this reason, caution is always appropriate.

HHC Dosage

There is no correct and universal HHC dose. Why? For the same reason why it is not possible to say with certainty how long HHC effects will last. It is a highly individual matter.

The dose of any cannabinoid depends on several factors, such as:

  • tolerance level
  • age
  • weight
  • metabolism
  • gender

Previous experience and effects of other cannabinoids - especially THC and CBD - should be taken into account.

The general rule is to start with a small amount. Ideally with an absolute minimum and observe the feelings that arise. The dose can be gradually increased until your body responds in the desired way. However, this is on the condition that it reacts without side effects even at low dosage. Any side effect should be a reason to immediately stop using HHC.

A low HHC dose means around 10 - 15 mg per day. Really gradual beginnings of use offer the microdosing method. For example, a 10 mg dose is divided into several micro doses of 1 - 2 mg throughout the day.

HHC is used in the form of HHC flowers or HHC cartridges designed for vaporization. Consumption takes place using a vaporization pen or large vaporizer by inhaling vapor from concentrated HHC cannabis extract or the flower itself.

Dare to try HHC? If not, try legal CBD drops, flowers or capsules. Everyone will find something in our offer.
