What is the correct CBD dosage?
- We Asked a Scientist: What's the Correct CBD Dosage?
Thanks to the growing number of studies focused on the medical use of cannabis compounds, doctors and scientists are increasingly shedding light on the issue of cannabinoids and their interaction with the human body, as well as with other cannabinoids. New studies help us understand why these compounds actually work, how to achieve their greatest effectiveness, and how they could be used in the future.
We spoke with Nick Jikomes, the chief neuroscientist at Leafly, about what researchers are learning about the cannabinoid CBD, and how different doses can be used to treat certain diseases.
Let's start with the basic question: what exactly is CBD?
CBD, or cannabidiol, is one of the main cannabinoids found in cannabis. After THC, it is the most abundant in cannabis. THC is similar in that it is a plant cannabinoid with a similar chemical structure, but when it comes to physiological effects, there is a big difference.
The main big difference is that CBD is not intoxicating. This means it won't get you high in the same way as THC. However, when these two substances interact, they can produce various effects. They can enrich each other or weaken each other. And some interactions can be interesting from a medical use perspective.
