Does CBD help alleviate asthma?
Cannabidiol (CBD) has a strong anti-inflammatory effect, which could bring significant benefits in treating asthma, as it is a respiratory disease causing inflammation. CBD is a natural substance that appears to be an interesting candidate for alternative complementary asthma treatment.
Characteristics and Causes of Asthma
In asthma, inflammation causes narrowing of the airways, accompanied by severe coughing, wheezing, chest tightness, or chest pain and breathing difficulties in general. The muscles and tissues of the lungs, bronchi, and airways are prone to irritation from external influences, especially allergens, due to tension.
Causes of Asthma
The most common causes of asthma include increased ozone levels, phthalates found in PVC, and dust mites. One theory suggests reduced bacterial exposure in children, attributed to modern times, i.e., increased cleanliness in the home environment.
According to its proponents, children do not develop the necessary defense against allergens and other asthma triggers. Generally, we can divide the causes into two basic groups:
-
Allergens as a trigger – including dust, pollen, grass, trees, chemicals, medications, pollutants, smoke, mold, animal hair, etc.
-
Non-allergenic triggers – stress, exercise, weather, emotional reactions, illness, genetic predispositions, and others.
