Trichomes - How do they affect cannabis vaporization?
There are different categories of trichomes, each with its own size, shape, and unique biochemical function. They are shiny, sticky, and always carry the most amazing aroma.
What are trichomes?
Trichomes are small hairs that occur on plants (including hemp), lichens, algae, and other protist organisms. A protist organism is an organism with nucleated cells that is neither an animal, plant, nor fungus. Examples of protist organisms include protozoa and some molds.
They have a mushroom-like shape. The stem supports a bulbous spherical head. They are also tiny, approximately 50-100 microns wide (1 mm = 1000 microns). And although trichomes are presumed to have evolved with various functions, they seem to be used primarily by hemp as a defense.
Hemp trichomes are resinous glands that enable, among other things, the production of hemp CBD concentrates, such as:
-
shatter
-
hash
-
