Can CBD help in treating psoriasis?

Cannabidiol (CBD) is often associated with treating many diseases and various types of conditions that we humans face. In fact, our ancestors knew about the effects of medical cannabis several millennia ago, as evidenced by preserved sources and mentions from indigenous people around the world. You may still belong to those who view this renowned plant with skepticism, but in recent years, there have been growing undeniable studies suggesting its great potential not only in medicine. One of the many fields where CBD cannabis could help is the treatment of psoriasis. The following lines will convince you that CBD certainly deserves your attention.

What is Psoriasis?

Psoriasis, also known as lupus, is an autoimmune disease that occurs when new skin cells accumulate and are produced so quickly that they are unable to fully mature. In healthy individuals, skin cells are typically replaced after 30 days, but in psoriasis patients, this occurs in just 3 to 5 days. These accumulated cells create scaly patches typical of white or red color, or a combination of both. Mild forms of this condition are accompanied by skin patches that can appear on almost any body part. In some severe cases, the body is literally covered with patches from head to toe. Although primarily a skin disease, about 10-20% of those affected experience psoriatic arthritis, which affects joints and can even cause complete loss of their functionality.
